Federal Styled Cherry Lift Top Desk, Bookcase, Secretary Early 19th century, attributed to the mid Ohio area, said to come from a important family's home but we've had in our collection for many years. An unusual Federal style secretary desk with the most attractive folk art or tramp art ornamentation. Comes in two parts, upper book case portion with it's original wavy imperfect glass.
Bottom section is a blind dovetailed cabinet with three sturdy drawers inside two doors... Again, tramp art decoration follows the line of the door edge. Above the base is a hidden desk that can be locked, pull out toward you and find two drawers with brown tortoise decorated knobs and two cubby holes.
Measurements: Overall height 88.25" / 38" at base for width Base 36" tall, 18.75" deep Top 52.25" tall, 9" deep This piece has been extremely well taken care of and only shows mild light scratches in spots. Wax would bring this to almost perfection. The condition is considered very good to excellent. The original wavy glass is shown in the dark, (without flash) photo.
The flash does not do the finish justice. This item is in the category "Antiques\Furniture\Desks & Secretaries". The seller is "old_legends" and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped to United States.
