Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic 20th century federal antique style Boston mahogany secretary desk.

We're very fond of tambour secretary desks and have placed some impressive examples in wonderful collections all throughout the country. This is an exceptional reproduction of one of the most desirable pieces of furniture one can shop for, a Boston secretary desk. Period examples from the Seymour cabinet shop seldom come to market and when they do they deservedly command high prices. The desk has a three drawers base with book matched crotch mahogany faces with a multi-wood inlay border, contrasting mahogany border, & cock bead molded edges.

The desk is decorated with fantastic courting scene pulls with a nice set of inlaid bellflowers on the legs & more inlay along the vertical columns & along the ankles. The upper cabinet has a swell front and the desk lid is scrolled out to match the curve. The desk has a green felt writing surface and the tambour doors actuate with ease.

The desk is further inlaid on the lid and along the top edge but we can't seem to find some of our detail shots. We'll try to upload a few next time we're at the warehouse but we've just been so busy and the inventory doesn't stop coming in. Every time we have a client pick something up we're embarrassed about how much inventory we have stuffed into each of our warehouses but you guys are great, you never seem to mind. The desk measures 34 1/4" wide x 18 1/4" deep x 46 1/2 tall. When the writing surface is extended the depth goes from 18 1/4" deep to 27" deep.

The writing surface measures 34 1/4" wide x 17 1/4" deep with a surface height of 30 3/4 tall. We are a wholly owned family business in our third decade of continuous operation.

We have expert woodworkers and re-finishers on staff to service any piece of furniture we offer. We represent all merchandise in absolute good faith and to the very best of our ability. We perform this service without the cost of labor as an appreciation for your patronage. This and our volume shippers discount creates a substantial lower cost for you. They are not furniture movers who bring the items into your home. We can get you special services in certain cases, but you are responsible for telling us you require them and for the extra cost of these services, if you instruct our shippers to provide services beyond curbside deliveries. We are responsible for any additional services and charged for these services. Again the process is all designed to protect your investment and is an option offered for your protection. We dont like to send nice people off with things tied to roof racks. We are not a storage facility. We are happy to hold your items for a reasonable pre-agreed upon period. We have a zero tolerance policy for non-paying buyers.
