Being offered for sale is this splendid American Empire Flamed Mahogany Secretary Desk with Keys Circa 1860's This handsome secretary offers beautiful period details and features. We believe it to have its original finish as well as the original glass. 1 that locks the doors and desk portion and the other works the drawers at the base. The fold out desk area has black leather on the writing surface area that is in excellent condition, a fitted interior with pull out drawers that have period dovetailing and chamfered bottoms, small pen nib compartments are at the right and the front portion of the writing surface lifts up with a storage area underneath.

Full flamed mahogany columns flank the glass doors, with full ring turned columns at the base. The only apology I can find is a small sliver of the molding on the top right side missing...

You have to look very close to see it... Nothing major in m opinion but wanted to point that out. 19 3/4 inches deep at base, 11 inches deep at bookcase top portion. Writing surface to floor measures 31 inches. Please remember that vintage items and antiques will show some type(s) of wear and may have minor imperfections they have acquired through enduring time.
