Antique Grunbaum Wood Secretary Study Desk and Seat 1900-1950

  

Own a piece of history! Seat measures H=19", W= 12", Depth= 12. Drop down desk with 2 side cabinets, 1 long drawer. Inside the desk are 2 small drawers, 2 small side cabinets, 5 vertical shelves, 2 ink wells. Stamped "GRUNBAUMS" and numbered "414" at the back.

In excellent condition except for some minor chips on one leg of the seat (see photo). The Grunbaum Furniture Company was a major furniture company in early 20th Century Seattle. Obama's maternal grandfather worked at a furniture company in Seattle while the family lived on Mercer Island in the 50's. I wonder if this was the store?

Stanley Dunham worked as a salesman at Standard-Grunbaum Furniture in downtown Seattle initially, though by 1957 he was working at Doces Majestic Furniture in Seattle.
