Empire Antique 1840 Flame Mahogany Drop Front Secretary Desk #35728. An unusual Empire period secretary desk from about 1840 is mahogany with matched flame grain panels. The drop front has a gold tooled leather surface. At the top is a hinged "secret" compartment. The restored finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique library or office furniture. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints, pulls are hand carved. The key operates the drop front lock only. Measurements are 48 1/2" wide, 31" deep, 60" tall and the desktop is 32" high.
