Stunningly beautiful secretaire / desk designed by Erling Torvits. Made in Denmark around 1960.

The desk is veneered with walnut (which not so common for the danish furniture of this period). Veneer has a nice rich and deep colour, it has not faded from the sun. Very nice mid century form! It combines so many mid-century characteristics. It's simplified rational form with organic finish seen in the handles and profiles. Empty shelves spaces contrast nicely with the veneered fronts of doors and drawers thus creating a nice composition. Demilune chest of drawers in the bottom part. It all makes whole piece very light, cosy and elegant.

The central doors in the upper part and the top drawer of the bottom part (the one underneath the desktop) are lockable. Interesting note for The Big Bang Theory fans out there. The same secretaire is featured in the apartment of Rajesh Koothrappali. Height x width x depth: 144 x 100 x 42 cm.
