George III Secretary Bookcase & Fold down Front Desk 19th Century Piece. Very attractive English George III Antique Secretary Desk , originally crafted during the First quarter of the 19th Century. This is a rather fine piece, the case features two adjustable shelves inside of two beautiful glass doors with very nice wood frame panes. The slant front drops over original hinges to rest on extending lopers, revealing a large writing surface with seven document slots and one small drawer - this is a great feature.

It is crafted in two parts, the upper bookcase with adjustable shelves and glass doors under a slightly projecting crown and molding. The bottom piece consists of the desk portion and two lower large drawers, on a base of crafted round legs in front and square in the the back. A visually interesting and desirable piece, this is a wonderful period secretary desk with fine character. It is a striking piece that will drastically improve the overall presentation of any setting - offered at a value driven price, this is a fine acquisition for interior decorators or those looking for authentic appeal in an affordable antique secretary desk. 29" wide x 17" deep (closed), 21 deep (opened). Writing surface measures 19" deep x 26" wide. Bookcase is 37 1/2 high. Total height of the case is 75 1/2. Lock and hinges are original, along with the hanging brass knobs on the drawers. All drawer hardware and locks original, with keys. Feet are original in very good condition. Backboards are original, all attached with original nails.
