Presented for sale is this gorgeous walnut secretary dating to about 1860. It came out of a Virginia estate. It is in excellent condition, but is missing a lock on the lower doors and has no keys for the other two locks.
It originally had casters but only one remains. The glass is the original wavy glass. The writing surface pulls out to 23 inches. It stands 101 inches high and is 42 1/2 inches wide. The depth of the desk is 25 1/4 inches and depth of the bookcase is 12 inches. The top decoration is 8 inches high and is removable as is the book case. The bookcase is anchored with 4 bolts as we used to live in an earthquake zone.
There is a 3/16 gap between frame of the writing surface and writing surface due wood shrinkage. There are no visible cracks elsewhere.
