Vintage Hibritten (Bernhardt) Secretary Writing Desk withhutch 80H 36H 21D

  
This drop front desk with hutch was manufactured in mid 1960's by Hibritten Furniture, a division of Bernhardt Industries. The desk is 36" wide x 39" high x 21" deep, the hutch is 36" wide x 41" high x 11-1/2" deep. The desk is finished on the back side so can be used free standing by itself. The finish is brown with dark antiquing and fly spec distressing.

This is a family heirloom and was in an unused room so it is in very good condition. Inside the desk compartment, a vinyl notebook was left on the surface just under the letter slots and apparently there was a reaction with the vinyl which dissolved the lacquer finish under it.

The wood veneer is not damaged, just the finish which can be restored without notice. The drawer case is solid oak with dovetail joint construction.
