Walnut Victorian Aesthetic Period Side By Side Secretary Desk Bookcase with Beveled Mirror Display Gallery (Circa: 1880). This very fine quality Victorian Secretary Desk weighs approximately 150 pounds, and measures 63 ¼ height (from the floor to the top of the crown), 40 ¼ in width, and 14 ¼ in depth.

The space from the floor to the underside of the pull-down writing surface measures 29 in height. This charming Walnut Victorian Aesthetic Period Secretary Desk Bookcase with Beveled Mirror Display Gallery has many wonderful details and is just waiting for its special place in your home! The top of the Secretary Bookcase is graced with a beautiful dimensional scalloped leaf and vine carved crown gallery.

The left bookcase/display side section has a glass door which opens to reveal four adjustable fluted front shelves that measure 18 ¼ wide by 9 ¾ deep. This door has an intact lock and working key. The right side is designed with a fabulous original beveled mirror spindle gallery top shelf that measures 11 ¼ tall by 10 ¼ wide by 10 deep and provides the perfect introduction to the beautiful drop front hidden desk door. This hidden desk door is adorned with beautiful dimensional carved leaves and vines and opens to reveal a new black felt writing surface along with nine storage slots and a small internal.

The desk surface measures 19 ½ deep by 18 ¾ wide. A dovetailed drawer with period brass pulls beneath this desk door provides some additional storage as does the lovely bottom door compartment. The lovely bottom door compartment is also graced with dimensional carved leaves and vines and opens to reveal an adjustable storage shelf that measures 19 wide by 9 ¾ deep.

The finish on this piece appears to have been restored at some point in time and is a beautiful honey walnut tone. The top surface of this piece has a few dark areas with wear (visible in e-Bay photos). Anyway, this is not visible unless youre looking down on the piece from high above and simply adds to the intrigue of such a charming Aesthetic period piece. This piece is a lovely example of Victorian Aesthetic Period design. We know that it would be quite beautiful in the home or office of the distinguished collector of Aesthetic Period Victoriana!
